(Newswire.net — June 4, 2019) Orlando, FL — Today, the number of diabetes sufferers continues to increase. Despite efforts by health organizations and scientists to reduce its prevalence, it appears that it will still skyrocket in the coming decades.

A new study has revealed that one in eight individuals are predicted to have type 2 diabetes by 2045.

According to researchers, there will be an increase in the global rates of the disease from 9 percent to 14 percent. This carries along sever impacts on health systems. They added that this may not happen if the prevalence of obesity is reduced.

The study was presented at the European Congress on Obesity in Vienna suggest.

According to Diabetes UK, it is estimated that the NHS spends £14bn a year on the disease already. It is worth mentioning this is about 10 percent of its budget.

Health authorities warn people with this condition should be closely monitored, treated, and cared for. This is due to the fact that it could lead to severe complications, which include blindness and amputations.

Diabetes is often treated through the use of medications, but there are vitamins believed to be helpful to sufferers.

According to researchers, vitamin B3 is a popular vitamin in the treatment of high blood sugar levels. What makes it even more beneficial is that it could potentially treat the symptoms of diabetes.

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center conducted a trial.

The findings of the study were published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.

It involved 148 participants who experienced significant improvements in lipid levels after vitamin B3 consumption. What makes the study even more beneficial is that its use led to minimal changes in glycemic control.

Dr. Scott Grundy, the study’s lead author said that previous reports have shown that niacin in high doses raises blood glucose levels.

“But this trial shows that in doses of 1,000 milligrams per day and 1,500 mg/d, niacin therapy was well-tolerated and changes in glycemic control were minimal,” he added.

While more studies are still underway to explore more of niacin’s anti-diabetes potentials, its use is widely recommended by experts.

It is worth mentioning that the deficiency in this B vitamin has been found to produce symptoms and some other undesirable health consequences.
