(Newswire.net — August 1, 2019) Orlando, FL — Depression is a serious brain disorder that needs to be immediately and properly addressed. When not treated, it could lead to life-threatening consequences.

According to Ian A. Cook, MD, while the symptoms used to diagnose depression are the same regardless of gender, often the chief complaint can be different among men and women.

Cook is the Miller Family professor of psychiatry at the University of California–Los Angeles.

Clinical depression can manifest in varying ways in different people. Some of the common symptoms are fatigue, delay in speech, physical movements, and thought process as well as psychomotor retardation.

Josh Klapow, PhD says men are more likely than women to report fatigue and other physical symptoms of depression as their chief complaints.

Klapowis a clinical psychologist with the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Public Health.

Health authorities further warn against sleeping too much or too little, as it is one of the most common symptoms of depression. There are those who sleep 12 hours a day and still feel tired.

Many depressed individuals tend to suffer from headaches, back pain, diarrhea, or constipation.

Focus groups were carried out by the National Institute of Mental Health. Norman Sussman, MD, a professor of psychiatry at the NYU Langone Medical Center, was involved in the study.

The researchers suggest that men normally don’t realize that chronic pain as well as digestive disorders go hand in hand with depression.

Taking care of health also includes managing mood and warding off disorders like depression. According to experts, men who are susceptible to this brain disorder may benefit from the use of macrominerals like magnesium.

In some studies, magnesium has been found to aid in maintaining a balanced mood as well as the proper function of the nervous system.

Serotonin is a brain chemical that requires adequate levels of magnesium. When there are too little levels of the mineral, it could result in a drop of serotonin levels.

According to a study from the Medical University of Vienna, this could contribute to depression. Researchers suggest magnesium could be helpful in the treatment of depression.

A randomized clinical trial in 2008, on the other hand, has shown that magnesium was as effective as an antidepressant medication.

This fantastic, depression-fighting macromineral may be obtained from consuming certain types of foods. However, some supplements like Divine Bounty Men’s Multivitamins may also be useful.
