(Newswire.net — July 25, 2019) — Jeffrey Epstein, an American billionaire accused of sexually assaulting women and sex trafficking, was found unconscious in a Manhattan prison cell with neck injuries, US media reported, referring to unnamed sources.
Prison guards found the billionaire, Epstein lying on the floor of his cell. Some media reported that his face had turned blue.
The billionaire was transferred to a hospital, the New York Times reported, but it is not disclosed in what condition he was in. It’s not even known how he was hurt, although it is presumed that Epstein was either beaten or alternatively tried to hurt himself.
Epstein was recently denied a request for release, with the guarantee that his lawyers had planned to complain the denial.
The billionaire pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy on July 8, after being arrested two days earlier.
The indictment alleges that dozens of 14-year-old girls were lured to Epstein’s luxury homes in New York and Florida and were paid for sexual services.
The indictment also alleges that the former manager of the hedge fund had confirmed that girls were asked to perform “massages” completely nude. Other girls were paid for sexual services and some have been paid large sums of money to recruit additional girls.
Epstein earlier said that his encounters with the alleged victims were consensual and that he believed they were 18 years old.
The billionaire financier that owns a private jet named “Lolita Expres” is charged with sex trafficking and misconduct that took place between 2002 and 2005.
Epstein is known for being friends with politicians and the British royal family, and on the list of his most influential friends are the US President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, and according to court reports, the British Prince Andrew as well.
