(Newswire.net — July 27, 2019) — Boris de Fefel Johnson, was born in 1964. He studied at Eton College, a prestigious British private school where many British prime ministers have been educated, including David Cameron. He studied classical literature at Oxford University and in 1986 he was elected as president of the Union of that university.

The new British prime minister comes from a wealthy British family. His father, Stanley Johnson, is a former politician who was a member of the Conservative Party. He was also a member of the European Parliament from 1979 to 1984.

Johnson also has some Turkish roots. His grandfather, Ali Kemal, was a journalist in the Ottoman Empire and a politician who served as the Minister of Interior Affairs.

The former mayor of London began his journalistic career at the end of 1987 working for The Times of London, but was fired for falsifying quotes.

His journalist career, however, did not end there. Soon he began working for The Daily Telegraph, where he worked as a correspondent from Brussels from 1989 to 1994. He was known among other journalists as a Eurosceptic.

In the mid-nineties, he returned from Brussels to London, where he became the “Telegraph” deputy editor and political columnist. He wrote many controversial columns.

He was also charged with racism when in 2002 he called children of color by the racist expression “piccaninnies”. Six years later, as mayor of London, Boris Johnson apologized for his previous remarks.

After resigning as foreign minister in August 2019, the public criticized his Islamophobic column in which he compared Muslim women wearing a scarf with bank robbers.

Many organizations and politicians, including former Prime Minister Theresa May, called on Johnson to apologize for his Islamophobic comments.

In early 2000, Johnson moved from journalism to politics, winning the position of conservative lawyer at Henley, Oxford shire, from 2001 to 2008.

In May 2008, he was elected as mayor of London, and remained in office until 2016. He was the head of the British capital for eight years, during which time London hosted the 2012 Olympics.

In a Brussels referendum, Boris Johnson was one of the biggest advocates of the campaign to leave the European Union. He stressed the importance of regaining control over the country’s borders and warned of the possibility of eventual Turkish membership in the EU.

A month after the referendum, he was named prime minister of foreign affairs.

He resigned two years later after accusing Theresa May of turning Britain into a colony of the EU.

Johnson is known as a stubborn Brexit adherent. Fighting for the position of prime minister, Johnson said on several occasions that he would do everything to leave the UK on October 31, with or without an agreement.

The EU demands financial retribution for Brexit in order to cover losses. The so called “divorce bill” is set to 44 billion euros ($52bn). Johnson said the UK will never pay that amount which set the UK on a collision course with the EU.

Boris Johnson’s intention is to rule one of the most powerful countries in the world with an iron fist. However, this may lead to the dismantling of the United Kingdom as Scotland and Ireland clearly state they would rather exit the Kingdom than to break good relationship with the EU which was a major financial contributor to UK before Brexit.
