Study Says Cancer Treatment Should Depend on Type Not Location

(Newswire.net — August 8, 2019) Orlando, FL — More and more researchers are carrying out studies to determine how to prevent and cure cancer.

In one of these studies, investigators suggest that treatment should rely on the type of tumor instead of where it is found in the body.

There are overall 33 types of cancers, and they are reclassified into 28 different molecular types or clusters. Such a reclassification is often reliant on the cellular and genetic makeup.

According to Professor Christopher Benz, from the Buck Institute for Research on Aging in California, it’s time to rewrite the textbooks on cancer.

The scientists mapped cancer genomes, as part of the Pan-Cancer Atlas project. They found one tumor type was in 25 parts of the body. This means that they would have previously all been treated differently.

The findings of the study suggest that in certain cases, the use of pharmaceutical drugs for one type of cancer may be useful in the treatment of another.

More studies are still underway to validate the effects of cancer. However, there are researchers who study on the effects of certain natural ingredients.

This includes berberine, which many experts believe to be useful against a range of ailments.

According to scientists, berberine in some studies was able to act as an effective anti-cancer agent. It kills cancer cells and even blocks their proliferation.

It has even been suggested it could be an alternative medicine for tumor chemotherapy.

What makes it even more beneficial is that when it comes human breast cancer cells, it can improve the anti-cancer effect of estrogen receptor antagonists.

It is also found to produce superior effects on the growth of anoikis-resistant breast cancer cells than a commonly used treatment for the condition. Researchers also discovered that berberine aids in fighting cervical cancer linked with HPV. It is believed to do so by inducing cell death.

Studies found that berberine may also induce cell death in human brain cancer (glioblastoma) cells. According to scientists, it appears to exert a potent anti-tumor effect on Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM).

It is worth mentioning this is the most common type of malignant brain cancer and known to be a grim diagnosis. There are other types of cancers berberine is believed to fight against. This includes the ones affecting the liver, colon, mouth, spine, and thyroid.

In addition to potentially fighting cancer, berberine has been known to combat a range of diseases including the chronic ones.

It can be obtained through supplementation, such as the use of Divine Bounty Berberine (www.amazon.com/Berberine-Supplement-600mg-Per-Capsule/dp/B06XPCSTYM).
