(Newswire.net — September 25, 2019) — It’s always exciting packing your bags and getting ready for a weekend away or long vacation. Clothes are an essential item and obviously take up a significant amount of space in your suitcase.
But what about your hand luggage? You only have a small weight allowance, and knowing what to put in there can be a tough choice. There are a few essentials you should always pack whether going on a long or short distance flight.
Phone Charger
If you’re traveling anywhere, it’s always a good idea to have your phone on full charge so you can let friends and family know where you are and if you got to your destination safely. It can also keep you occupied during those long and tedious airport waits.
The charger is essential to keep it going until you get to your hotel. If you’re going to be experiencing layovers, this is especially important.
Documents
This may seem like an obvious one, but it can be very easy to forget an essential bit of paperwork. Having another copy of everything in a travel companions hand luggage is a great idea, just in case!
Entertainment
Long haul flights always include a personal TV with films and games to choose from. But what if they aren’t your cup of tea? Taking a tablet, books to read, or puzzle book is a fantastic idea so that you don’t get bored.
Flying short distances often come without any entertainment at all, so you’ll definitely want something to keep you amused. Looking at clouds the whole time isn’t a lot of fun.
Snacks
If you are allowed through security with them, take them! Airline snacks can be dull and often not filling. If you suffer from an allergy or intolerance, then you really need to be stocking up on goodies to make sure you don’t go hungry.
Toiletries
Any flight, however long or short, will often leave you feeling a bit grubby. It’s always a good idea to take your toothbrush, face wipes, compact mirror and makeup, and anything else you think you’ll need to freshen up before leaving arrivals.
Change of Clothing
Where you are traveling to may well be a different climate and opposite weather to back home. So taking a change of clothing that is appropriate for your vacation destination is smart.
After a very long flight, it will also feel nice to get into a fresh outfit, especially if you’ve been sleeping for hours in the other!
Valuables
Whatever they may be, it’s a good idea to keep valuables on your person. It probably won’t happen, but luggage getting lost along the journey can happen, and you don’t want one of your most beloved possessions to be in there.
It might be jewelry or your child’s favorite soft toy. Keep them close to you all the way.
Pack Lightly
You will, of course, have other items that you feel need to go in your hand luggage. However much you put in there, try to keep it light. You don’t want to be wandering around airports carrying something that’ll only cause backache and an unenjoyable first day of your vacation.
