(Newswire.net — November 12, 2019) Orlando, FL — Dementia is undeniably widespread nowadays. It is worth realizing that today, more and more researchers are carrying out studies to explore more about this condition.

In a study, it has been found that being poor later in life may boost the risk of dementia by 50 percent.

In the United States, statistics reveal there is a minimum of 5 million individuals currently living with age-related dementias. It is further worth mentioning that such a number is expected to rise. About 70 percent of these cases have been found to be due to Alzheimer’s disease.

According to lead researcher Dorina Cadar, their study confirms that the risk of dementia is reduced among well-off older people compared with those who have fewer economic resources.

Cadar is a research associate at University College London’s department of behavioral science and health.

“Public health strategies for dementia prevention should target socioeconomic gaps to reduce health disparities and protect those who are particularly disadvantaged,” Cadar added.

Dr. Sam Gandy said that poor financial management may be an early sign of dementia, such that financial resources are depleted late in life.

Dr. Gandy is a director of the Mount Sinai Center for Cognitive Health and NFL Neurological Care in New York City.

The report was published online May 16 in the journal JAMA Psychiatry.

Dementia rates continue to soar especially in the United States. This is why experts increasingly warn against this condition as it affects not just the sufferers but also their family and friends.

While doctors usually prescribe medications to manage the condition, it is worth realizing that according to some experts, there are natural ways to combat the disease.

Multiple research studies suggest that the use of a medicinal mushroom called lion’s mane may help. It is important to realize this kitchen ingredient has long been a subject of research due to its remarkable healing potentials, especially for brain health.

According to scientists, it offers neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory benefits to the brain. Preclinical studies have even shown that it has been able to delay or reverse the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

Some scientists further suggest that lion’s mane has been able to increase the levels of the nerve growth factor (NGF), which can aid in the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.

While more studies are still underway, it is worth realizing that the use of this therapeutic remedy is widely resorted to via supplementation. It can be obtain through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Lion’s Mane (https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Lions-Mane-Mushroom-Capsules/dp/B07LGR1KN7).
