The CDC Warns Pools Associated With Skyrocketing Diarrhea Outbreaks

(Newswire.net — November 27, 2019) Orlando, FL — There are various causes of diarrhea, such as a food allergy or an adverse reaction to a medication. It is also important to realize that certain outdoor activities may also increase its risk.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveals that the top cause of diarrhea in the United States is the parasite called Cryptosporidium.

It is usually found in the feces of infected humans and animals, and it may cause infection when swallowed. When diarrhea occurs, it leads in symptoms like vomiting, low-grade fever, watery diarrhea, abdominal cramping, nausea, and dehydration.

Health authorities have long been warning that in children, diarrhea is the top cause of death. Reports even show that in 2016, it accounted for roughly 8 percent of all deaths among kids below the age of 5.

It is worth noting that yearly, around 480,000 kids die every year due to this digestive health issue. On a global scale, diarrhea kills nearly half of a million children under 5 years old.  It can last for days or even weeks and it depends if it is acute or chronic.

Federal health officials warn that in between 2009 and 2017, the parasite that caused an increase in diarrhea outbreaks can be found again in public pools.

According to Dr. Tiffany Wiksten, even in well-chlorinated and well-maintained pools, outbreaks happen because this is a very difficult organism.

Wiksten is manager of Rush University’s infection control department.

“Cryptosporidium parasites can survive for days in chlorinated water because they have a tough outer shell,” she adds.

Health officials strongly recommend showering before jumping in the pool, and never to urinate or defecate in the water.

It is always best to take some preventive measures against diarrhea. Aside from following pool etiquette, there are also natural remedies found beneficial in cases of this digestive health issue.

A widely-studied remedy called activated charcoal has been found helpful due to the highly adsorbent surface it is equipped with.

According to a study, activated charcoal halted diarrhea-causing bacteria and drugs from penetrating the body. This is due to the highly porous surface it contains that traps toxins, bacteria, and drugs.

It is worth noting that activated charcoal has long been studied for various stomach disorders, such as gas, diarrhea, and indigestion.

Research even suggests that this natural remedy may be beneficial for individuals with diarrhea triggered by chemotherapy. Aside from its diarrhea-fighting benefits, it is important to realize that it is also used for purposes like constipation and indigestion.

A formula called Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal may be beneficial in delivering the therapeutic goodness of this natural remedy (www.amazon.com/Organic-Activated-Charcoal-Capsules-Whitening/dp/B071NZ5G56).
