On August 12, 2019, many local Chicago newspapers reported that the Little Bucharest Bistro, which opened in 1970 on Ashland Ave, now on 3661 N Elston Ave in Avondale area, would be closing after 50 years of service to local and visiting patrons. The article noted that many other European restaurants, that had been open for more than 50 years, had closed in the area, but the owner Branko Podrumedzic is more energized than ever to still serve his old and new patrons.
