(Newswire.net — April 9, 2020) — Nigerians have come together, presenting a united front in the fight against COVID-19 in the country. Several organizations, politicians, and businessmen like Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola are at the frontiers of this fight.

In this article, we will outline the list of organizations and well-meaning Nigerians that have donated to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A few weeks, the Chinese billionaire and co-founder of Alibaba, Jack Ma decided to support Africa’s COVID-19 fight with medical supplies donations. This led to a massive outcry by Nigerians that those at the top should also provide relief support.

Fast forward to the present day, several politicians, businessmen, and corporate organizations having been motivated by the billionaire, have made contributions as well.

At first, it wasn’t quite clear who was donating what.

Therefore, Nigerians took to media platforms to express their dissatisfactions and that the Federal Government release the comprehensive list of donors.

CACOVID For COVID Nigeria

Following the turmoil caused by the lack of accountability, the federal government decided to create an organization specifically for the COVID-19 fight.

Therefore, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) set up the Contributions to the Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) specifically for collecting and distributing donated funds and relief supplies.

As at 4th April 2020, over N19.488 billion had been raised to which N15.325 billion has been collected.

Thereafter, Mr. Isaac Okoroafor, the Director, Corporate Communications of CBN, speaking on behalf of the Federal Government, disclosed that over 47 donors including individuals, corporates, and organizations have made these contributions.

However, there are no official listings of these said individuals, and according to researches carried out by Naijaonlineguide.com, there are instances where it is hard to tell if the donations came from the head of companies or the companies as a whole.

Nevertheless, here are 47 individuals and organizations that have donated to the COVID-19 pandemic.
