(Newswire.net — May 5, 2020) Orlando, FL — In previous studies, researchers have linked body weight with brain health. One recently carried-out research has shown that the link between excess weight in the 60s and its effects on the brain.

This research was published in Neurology, which is the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

In this study, which was published by a leading University of Miami neurologist researcher, it has been found that a bigger waistline and a high body mass index (BMI) in one’s 60s may be linked with greater signs of brain aging years later.

The findings of this research suggest that these factors may speed up brain aging by at least a decade.

According to study author Tatjana Rundek, M.D., Ph.D, people with bigger waists and higher BMI were more likely to have thinning in the cortex area of the brain, which implies that obesity is associated with reduced gray matter of the brain.

Rundek is a UHealth neurologist, professor of neurology, epidemiology, and public health and scientific director of the Evelyn F. McKnight Brain Research Institute.

The researchers also reveal that these links were particularly strong in individuals who were younger than 65. This adds weight to the theory that there could be an increased risk of brain aging from having poor health indicators in mid-life.

It may also be linked with problems affecting memory and thinking skills in later life.

The findings of this research aren’t at all surprising considering that obesity or being overweight has been associated with various undesirable health consequences.

Today, the statistics of obesity continue to alarm experts as many studies link excess weight with the increased odds of diseases. These medical conditions include heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer.

In addition to shedding extra pounds and managing a healthy weight, scientists also recommend resorting to some helpful measures to increase brain health protection.

It is interesting to note that in multiple research studies, powerful healing plant-based remedies like acetyl L-Carnitine (ALCAR) have shown their potential.

This natural remedy is found to be readily absorbed throughout the body, including the brain. According to researchers, it is actually involved in fatty acid metabolism and may enhance various aspects of brain health.

These include the activity of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, mitochondrial function, and potentially cognition.

In a study, it has been found that it may enhance the levels of nerve growth factor as well as increase the activity of acetylcholine. This is a neurotransmitter critical to healthy brain function and is substantially lost in Alzheimer’s disease.

To experience its healing benefits, it is wise to consider the use of formula like Divine Bounty L-Carnitine (amazon.com/dp/B06XF7K9MM).
