(Newswire.net — May 20, 2020) Orlando, FL — Statistics warn that around 20 million people in the U.S. have some form of thyroid disease. It is important to realize that it can happen to people of any age or race.

Experts further reveal that women are more susceptible to thyroid health issues than men by 5 to 8 times.

When it comes to hypothyroidism, there are conditions found to trigger it. These include Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, thyroiditis, postpartum thyroiditis, iodine deficiency, and a non-functioning thyroid gland.

Individuals who suffer from hypothyroidism tend to experience symptoms like forgetfulness, fatigue, frequent, heavy menstrual periods, weight gain, hoarse voice, and intolerance to cold.

Treatments for hypothyroidism usually involve dietary changes and the use of certain medications. However, it is worth noting that according to some studies, certain natural remedies like the medicinal herb called ashwagandha may be useful.

A study was published in the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine.

In this research, ashwagandha worked wonders in demonstrating its thyroid-enhancing properties. It involved patients of bipolar disorder treated with ashwagandha for an eight-week period.

It has been found that the subjects were able to achieve improvement in cognitive function. The investigators further reveal that the patients had increases in T4 levels during the treatment period.

This medicinal herb may be beneficial for individuals with a sluggish thyroid or those with a  diagnosis of Hashimoto’s disease. Ashwagandha has further been found to be beneficial against thyroid issues due to the fact that it has weight loss benefits.

It is worth realizing that thyroid issues could result in weight fluctuations.

A 2017 pilot study was published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, which is the official journal of the Society for Acupuncture Research.

In this research, the investigators assessed patients with subclinical hypothyroidism. It is important to note that 50 participants diagnosed with thyroid disorder did not exhibit apparent symptoms of thyroid deficiency.

The eight-week period involved treatment of placebo and 600 milligrams of ashwagandha root extract daily. It has been found that the use of this natural remedy enhanced serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroxine (T4) levels significantly compared to placebo.

This has led researchers to suggest that the herb may be useful in normalizing thyroid levels in patients with hypothyroidism.

There are actually several other studies revealing the thyroid-enhancing potentials of this natural remedy. It can be obtained through the use of supplements like NutraHerbals Ashwagandha, which is popularized widely by its high potency and purity (http://amazon.com/organic-ashwagandha-root-powder/dp/B01GZALWGO).
