What is Job Dissatisfaction?

Job dissatisfaction is not uncommon. In fact, about half the American workforce identify with experiencing dissatisfaction with their employment. Job dissatisfaction comes in various forms and to various degrees. It may be a particular aspect their job causing dissatisfaction or an overall general feeling of discontent.

While job dissatisfaction may come about for many different reasons, including poor work conditions, pay levels, overwork or lack of recognition, the most common cause of job dissatisfaction arises when an employee feels they have little or no potential for growth.

Signs of Job Dissatisfaction

Some of the early signs of job dissatisfaction include distraction, boredom, low productivity, irritability at home and at work, a lack of effort in the role and arriving late to work. More serious signs include problems with colleagues or management, feeling miserable every morning and increased stress levels. Eventually, many people experiencing serious job dissatisfaction often find their physical and mental health being negatively affected.

So, what can you do if you find yourself dissatisfied with your currently job or career? Many people simply look for another job. But there are those who realize that they could overcome their dissatisfaction by going into business for themselves.

Franchising Your Way into Job Satisfaction

Franchising offers the independence of working for yourself in your own business, while having the support of the larger franchisor. According to Derek Cafferata, franchising expert and CEO of All State Franchise Finders, a significant number of potential franchisees are looking to overcome their current job dissatisfaction by becoming a franchise owner.

“We work with many people from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and experience to help them achieve their goal of franchise ownership,” says Derek. “And job dissatisfaction is a common reason why people quit their employment and go into business for themselves.”

One of the great things about franchising is that, with systems already in place, it allows people the opportunity to branch out into other industries they may not have prior experience in if they wish.

There are some great, low-cost franchise opportunities available, like Mosquito Joe’s, Window Genie and Pop-a-Lock. Franchises like these offer great training and support with the opportunity to generate ongoing wealth and unlimited potential for growth and development. And with low initial franchise fees, getting into your own business is within reach.
