  • Go on a horse ride in Hatteras

Several companies in the Hatters offer rides that typically range between 30 minutes and 1 hour. 

The horse ride is calm and relaxing because the horses are gentle and well trained. 

  • Watch the Lost Colony Play 

The Lost Colony is the second longest running historical drama acted outdoors every summer.

The play tells the story of the mysterious disappearance of 117 English settlers shortly after they arrived in Roanoke Island in 1587. 

The play is performed at the waterside theater in Manteo, on the same land where the mysterious event occurred. 

  • See the Elizabethan Gardens 

The beautiful Elizabethan gardens have over 10 areas of land, beautified with as much as 500 unique species of colorful flora. 

The serenading garden on Roanoke Island was patterned after the gardens made for Queen Elizabeth I during her reign. The garden is also built to honor the first American settlers from 400 years ago. 

  • Discover Jockey’s Ridge State Park

Jockey’s Ridge State park offers amazing views of the Island with sand dunes towering over 100 feet tall. It is number 1 

If you are going to visit Nags Head, go through Jockey’s Ridge state park during the day and discover sand boarders and hang gliders in their numbers. The town is full of beauty, adventure and history, so you will have a lot of things to do in Nags Head NC

  • Go Hunting for Shipwrecks 

The Outer Banks houses evidence of hundreds of shipwrecks. From the boats that sank during the world wars 1 and 2 to ships destroyed in different storms, the graveyard of the Atlantic is a pretty apt name to describe the site. 

The beach houses some visible ships that were involved in wrecks such as the Laura A. Barnes on Coquina beach and the Metropolis in Corolla.

  • Take the Hatteras Ferry to Ocracoke Island 

The ferry ride to Ocracoke Island is a beautiful experience to have as a group or family. 

You can board a ride or with your vehicle and the ride lasts for 40 to 45 minutes.

When you arrive in Ocracoke there is a lot to enjoy; restaurants, music, nature trails, fishing, shopping and lots more. 

  • Visit the Duck BoardWalk and Duck Town Park

The mile-long duck boardwalk is a fun and exciting experience with a lot to discover.

On this walk you will find eateries, boutiques, music, and beautiful waterfront stalls. 

The 11-acre Duck Town Park is also beside the boardwalk and offers sceneries and activities like kayaking and canoeing, picnics, amphitheatre, playgrounds and the likes.
