(Newswire.net — June 5, 2020) Orlando, FL — Today in the U.S., about 27 million individuals are affected by osteoarthritis. This incurable and highly prevalent condition is usually managed by pain relievers, and is responsible for the high rates of disability.

A study was carried out and published in the August issue of Radiology.

In this research, the investigators recruited 336 patients with major osteoarthritis. It is worth realizing that the subjects were not just all overweight, but were also at the risk of osteoarthritis. The researchers also found that they had minimal or no loss of cartilage in their knees.

Dr. Frank W. Roemer, an adjunct associate professor at Boston University and co-director of the quantitative imaging center in the department of radiology at Boston University School of Medicine, spearheaded the study.

It is worth noting that during the 30 months of follow-up, the investigators found that 20.2 percent of the patients showed a slow loss of knee cartilage and 5.8 percent had rapid cartilage loss.

The researchers found that the main risk factors for the loss of cartilage were tears, severe lesions, pre-existing cartilage damage, or being overweight. It is important to realize that being overweight was linked with rapid cartilage loss.

Dr. Sean Scully agreed that the danger of developing osteoarthritis is another reason to control weight.

“This study shows a direct correlation — people who are heavy are the ones that are getting worse,” he adds.

Dr. Scully is a professor of orthopedics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Florida.

It is important to take the measures necessary in managing a healthy weight. There are dietary and lifestyle techniques found to work wonders in shedding extra pounds. One is a phytochemical called curcumin, which is loaded with disease-fighting compounds.

Multiple research studies have also found that curcumin has previously demonstrated its ability to aid in fighting arthritis.

In weight loss, curcumin works as an antioxidant that suppresses the inflammatory messaging in fat, pancreatic, and muscle cells.

It is also worth noting that according to a study, curcumin aids in decreasing high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar and other metabolic conditions.

This study was published in European Journal of Nutrition.

Another study was carried out in 2009 by the Tufts University.

It has been found that curcumin has been able to suppress the growth of fat tissue.

Today, formulas like VitaBreeze Curcumin could work wonders in delivering the healing goodness of this natural remedy. In addition to being highly potent, this formula is also equipped with black pepper (amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00JA4TLTI/).
