(Newswire.net — June 24, 2020) Orlando, FL — The amount of studies investigating into the remedies to enhance and protect the bones continue to increase. This is due to the skyrocketing rates of bone health issues around the world.

Scientists at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden carried out a study. In this research, it has been found that dietary probiotic supplements could have an influence on the human skeleton.

More particularly, those who received probiotics experienced a reduction in bone loss by up to 50 percent compared to the placebo. The investigators suggest that this may open the door to finding an effective way to preventive fractures among the elderly.

A condition called osteoporosis affects many people today, and its risk increases with age. It is worth noting that most women who are more than 80 years of age have this condition.

According to Mattias Lorentzon, today there are effective medications administered to treat osteoporosis, but because bone fragility is rarely detected before the first fracture, there is a pressing need for preventive treatments.

Lorentzon is a chief physician and professor of geriatrics at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg.

This interesting research involved ninety elderly women with an average age of 76 years old.

It is worth mentioning that this double-blind, randomized study was carried out at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Mölndal, Sweden.

Further, it was published by the Journal of Internal Medicine.

It is worth noting that probiotics have long been found to offer a range of health benefits. Intake of these bacteria could be an excellent way to enhance overall bone health.

There are actually many other studies revealing the bone health benefits of probiotics. One even measured the ability of probiotics to improve bone growth.

This recently carried out study was published in the Immunity journal.

It was spearheaded by senior study author Roberto Pacifici of Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

This interesting study has shown that probiotics were able to stimulate the growth of gut bacteria that produce a particular metabolite called butyrate. It is worth realizing that butyrate prompted T cells in bone marrow for the purpose of producing a protein called Wnt10b, which is vital for bone growth.

Individuals who want to enhance bone health and protection may take into account increasing their probiotic intake. It is worth realizing that in addition to its bone health benefits, probiotics have also been found to offer many healing effects.
