Research Shows Exercise Enhances Sleep Quality in Teens

The study findings were published in the Scientific Reports. 

The investigators specifically revealed that for every extra hour of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, the subjects fell asleep 18 minutes earlier. Further, they were also able to sleep 10 minutes longer.

The results of this amazing research have also revealed that the participants had about 1 percent greater sleep maintenance efficiency that night.

According to Lindsay Master, data scientist at Penn State, adolescence is a critical period to obtain adequate sleep, as sleep can affect cognitive and classroom performance, stress, and eating behaviors.

The outcomes of this interesting research suggest that encouraging adolescents to exercise more during the day may be significantly helpful in their sleep health later that night.
