(Newswire.net — June 30, 2020) Orlando, FL — Depression is one of the most common mental health issues nowadays. It continues to reduce the overall quality of life of sufferers and claim more and more lives silently.

This condition can be managed through the use of certain medications. There are many sufferers who turn to the use of these pharmaceutical drugs, but it is worth realizing that their use is linked with side effects.

It is always important to learn about how it could potentially develop and the ways that its onset may be counteracted. There are various contributing factors of depression, and these include diet.

Fast food is considered by many experts to be one of the unhealthiest foods that a huge number of the global population consumes regularly. There are various diseases linked with its regular consumption, and one is depression.

This is according to a study published in the Public Health Nutrition journal. It was carried out by the researchers from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the University of Granada.

The investigators specifically revealed that eating commercial baked goods, such as fairy cakes, croissants, and doughnuts, as well as fast food like hamburgers, hotdogs and pizza is associated depression.

The likelihood of suffering from depression due to fastfood intake was by 51 percent. The investigators further reveal that the more intake of fast food, the greater risk of depression.

The findings of this research demonstrate that individuals who consume most commercial baked goods and fast food are more likely to be sedentary, single, and have poor dietary habits. This means they are less likely to eat fish, nuts, fruit, vegetables, and olive oil.
