This accounts for almost two-thirds of all people living with the condition.

By 2040, its prevalence is projected to nearly double with the number of female sufferers reaching 8.5 million. In men, it is expected to rise to 4.5 million from 2.6 million in 2020.

Individuals who are looking for all-natural remedies to increase their brain health protection may take into account using lion’s mane. This medicinal mushroom is considered to be an outstanding nerve tonic that aids in maintaining a healthy nervous system.

According to some experts, this medicinal mushroom encourages the production of a protein called nerve growth factor (NGF), which promotes nerve health.

Experts have long stressed that this protein is vital for the development as well as the survival of neurons nerve cells, which are considered to be the building blocks of the nervous system. It is important to remember that adequate levels of NGF is important in managing the function of neurons.

Further, the existence of the NGF plays a significant role in the regeneration capacity for neurons that aid in dealing with neurological issues, such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and dementia. Lion’s mane has been found to have two powerful compounds, namely erinacines and hericenones.

These compounds work in crossing the blood-brain barrier and prompting the brain to secrete NGF,  which often activate the synthesis of neurons within the brain. The therapeutic actions of this medicinal mushroom leads in the increased protection of the brain from neurodegenerative diseases.
