Further Trouble for US Sporting

(Newswire.net — August 19, 2020) — It had seemed for a short time at least that we could see a grand return for major US sporting events – Europe had managed to curb any spread of the coronavirus seeing the 19/20 campaign for European football seen through to a conclusion, bringing plenty of excitement to many fans after months of cancellations and delays. There had been hopes that the same could ring true in the US as major events were set to get underway at the end of July, but much of that hope seemed short lived.

The first signs of bad news came through the return of MLB – almost as soon as baseball had got underway once again there issues started popping up very quickly as a number of players would soon test positive for the coronavirus, this led to postponements and cancellations of some games and most recently the reintroduction and reinforcement of a number of protocols have been somewhat strengthened – this includes limiting the number of personnel that can be present at a game and also reinforcing some of the measures to keep players in a ‘bubble’ to prevent a spread.

The next big sport to get back on track is MLS, but it seems that many of the struggles may be felt too – there had been a lot of praise for how well things had been handled as the bubble MLS players were put in seemed to be very successful with no public cases being announced, but in a strange turn of events it seems that could all change ahead of the return later this week. There have been other cases such as the NBA that have shown that a measured approach can be extremely successful, whilst there is still time for change to ensure that none of the proposed changes cause delays to the game, it’s looking more likely that things will head in the way of MLB and we may see cases begin to rise.

There’s been some recent rumblings that the big ten may be expected to cancel its fall season too amid fears of a spread too which would big another big hit to college sporting events as the list of cancelled continues to grow – this isn’t entirely confirmed yet however as the sources suggesting this may happen have requested anonymity as they weren’t yet authorized to publicly speak out on the matter and as an ongoing situation.

In the meantime punters will just have to hope for good news, the rising number of online betting sites that don’t fall under the gampstop initiative have found a huge benefit from the return of sporting events and fans can get involved in the return at Casinos not on Gamstop – the big hope now is that there aren’t any further delays or cancellations that had been seen across other sporting events and whilst US sporting events may still be under risk it won’t be long until European sporting events are back as September has been targeted for the 20/21 campaign.
