(Newswire.net — October 1, 2020) — Prod.KY is an incredibly talented producer that specialises in trap music. He is best known for his impressive skills in mixing and mastering techniques, which is why many rappers use his beats. He also was once a rapper and has a lot of experience in the field. The hardworking music lover has always been grafting hard to get to where he is today and it has paid off. He now has a huge fan base, with over 90,000 followers on instagram.
However, he still has a humble personality that we love and we get to have an exclusive interview with him and get to know about inspirations, hustle and love for music.
What inspired you to get into music?
“So when I was a kid in primary school, like really young, I remember when Soulja Boy dropped “Crank That”. It was like the biggest song in the world at the time and the way it sounded and made you move and dance was crazy. I loved the feeling and enjoyment of a new style of music instead of the regular pop and rock that was popular at the time within my family. After that, I was always waiting on YouTube for the next hip hop hit to come out. I was obsessed! Then when my vocabulary started getting better; I used to write remixes to the biggest songs on the radio and rap them to my family. That’s where it all started the never ending love for music!”
Can you tell us about the rappers that you have helped out?
“I’ve sold beats to upcoming rappers and artists all over the world. I’ve been able to make connections through the internet and via social media platforms. I have made use of targeted ads to reach a broader audience and build up some loyal customers and fans. I also mix and master artists/rappers’ songs mainly in my hometown with the up and coming artists that reside here!”
Who’s a music producer that you look up to and why?
“I have three music producers that I look up to. The first is PVLACE, because he makes the dopest loops in the game in my opinion, and he drops so many gems! The second is CashMoneyAP, probably my favourite producer on the drums. I know a lot of people are gonna disagree with me on this but IMO he’s heavily underrated! The third is Murda Beatz, the influence he’s had on the producer community is crazy and he’s produced so many hits it’s insane he definitely formed the sound we all love in trap music today, period.”
We heard that you make up to 10 beats a day, that’s impressive. Can you tell us what keeps you motivated?
“My biggest motivation is that I don’t do it for the money; I just love this game with my whole heart. Music is the gift that can never stop giving and you always surprise yourself when you make something you didn’t think you could make. It just opens up more doors to more ideas. Secondly, the relationships I form with artists and other producers is really fulfilling, especially when you’re just doing music as it is. But people in society don’t take you seriously and they never understand the level that you’re on. When you’re with other creatives doing the thing that you love and making history together, it’s great not having anyone in your ear, it’s a feeling that cannot be replaced!”
What’s your favourite equipment as a music producer?
“Physically, equipment wise, I love my studio headphones. It just makes me zone in and nothing else crosses my mind when I chuck them on and drag in my first sound.
But my favourite thing to use in music production is all the fire VST’s and drum sounds, it just makes the process of music and sound design so fun. You can never get enough drum sounds. It’s crazy, I think I literally have 20,000 drum sounds! Where most producers hate the mixing stage, it’s actually my favourite part! “
