(Newswire.net — December 2, 2020) Orlando, FL — Doctors have long recommending that asthma sufferers resort to the measures helpful in reducing the negative impacts of their condition. However despite better management, it appears asthma can still trigger complications.

A study was published in the Annals of the American Thoractic Society.

In this research, it has been found that over 4 in 10 women suffering from asthma may potentially develop chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

This study is called “Asthma and COPD Overlap in Women: Incidence and Risk Factors,” and was spearheaded by Teresa To, PhD.

Dr. To is a professor in the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Toronto in Canada.

The investigators report that 42 percent of the 4,051 women with asthma developed COPD. It is worth mentioning that women in this study were tracked for around 14 years after asthma diagnosis.

This research involved examining risk factors for the development of asthma and COPD overlap syndrome, known as ACOS.

The findings have shown that subjects who developed ACOS experienced exacerbations and hospitalizations. They have further been found to have a reduced quality of life than individuals with asthma or COPD alone.

“Previous studies have found an alarming rise in ACOS in women in recent years and that the mortality rate from ACOS was higher in women than men,” Dr. To added.

It is worth being warned that this condition called asthma causes symptoms like tightness in the chest, sudden attacks with shortness of breath, coughing, and breathlessness.

The good news is that certain remedies have been found to work wonders in fighting asthma, and these include curcumin. It is widely popularized by its therapeutic agents, namely its anti-inflammatory properties.

According to experts, curcumin aids in offering relief from symptoms and reducing the secretions of mucus in the airways.

In a clinical trial, it has been found that its use along with other healing compounds for 4 weeks led to a significant reduction in the levels of enzymes that usually cause oxidative stress and leukotriene.

It is worth mentioning that inflammatory chemical called leukotriene is produced by the immune cells as an inflammatory response. In some other studies, curcumin use has led to the improvement in airway obstruction, and this enhanced breathing capacity.

Due to its strong inflammation-fighting effects, curcumin has further been found to reduce the production of inflammatory chemicals. More particularly, it decreases inflammation in cases of asthma.

Aside from its asthma fighting effects, it is important to realize that its use is widespread nowadays due to its various medicinal effects. It can be obtained through the use of highly potent and pure supplements like Divine Bounty Curcumin (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
