(Newswire.net — December 15, 2020) Orlando, FL — In the United States, there are more than 60 million adults with hypertension. It is worth noting only less than half of these sufferers are able to manage their condition.

A study was carried out and published in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior.

In this research, the investigators found that grocery-store-based nutrition counseling was useful in altering or improving the dietary patterns of individuals being treated for hypertension.

According to lead author Rosanna P. Watowicz, PhD, RDN, LD, primary care providers face multiple barriers when delivering nutrition information to patients, including lack of training on how to provide lifestyle behavior counseling combined with lack of time to interact with the patient.

Watowicz is from Department of Nutrition, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, USA.

“This study’s aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of a nutrition counseling program provided by a registered dietitian in the familiar setting of a grocery store,” she adds.

In this research, the investigators recruited patients from three primary care offices, which were part of an urban academic medical center.

It is worth noting that following the education allowed patients to significantly enhance their eating habits. More particularly, they were able to consume more greens and beans, whole grains, fatty acids, refined grains, total fruit, whole fruit, and empty calories.

Some experts strongly recommend intake of more nutrients, such as folate. This B vitamin has long been reputed to work wonders in delivering a range of health benefits.

A study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

In this research, the investigators had over 20,000 adults in China with hypertension as subjects. It is worth noting that the participants never had a stroke or a heart attack.

They were made to take folic acid supplements with a certain blood-pressure lowering medication. The investigators found that they were less likely to have had a stroke over the 4½-year trial than those who took the pharmaceutical drug alone.

According to experts, it can potentially reduce the risk of stroke. Folate can be obtained from consumption of foods like beans, green leafy vegetables, and citrus fruits.

Some other researchers suggest that folate and other B vitamins aid in breaking down homocysteine. This amino acid has the ability to cause damage to the inner walls of the arteries that can increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke.

Today, formulas like Purest Vantage Vitamin B Complex is widely resorted to by individuals who are aiming to nourishing their bodies with the healing benefits of folate.
