XRP vs LTC – Market Cap & Popularity

Both XRP and LTC are successful digital currencies. Although neither of them is as popular as BTC, they are certainly doing pretty well.

If we are to rank them based on their total market cap, we’d have to say that XRP leads the way, as it occupies fourth place in the top ten list of the cryptos with the highest cap. The only three cryptos currently ranked better than XRP are BTC, ETH, and USDT. Its market cap is somewhere around $11.7 billion at the moment.

On the other hand, Litecoin is ranked seventh in the list, with Chainlink and Bitcoin Cash between LTC and XRP. The market cap for LTC is approximately $4 billion.

As you can see, XRP is slightly more popular than LTC right now, even though XRP is younger. Nevertheless, both cryptocurrencies trade pretty well, and they are exchanged against each other too.

Highest Price, Lowest Price

XRP’s all-time low was on July 7, 2014, when a single unit of XRP was just $0.002802. The cryptocurrency reached its all-time high of $3.84 on January 4, 2018. However, after the January 2018 boom, the price declined and did not go above $1 again. The lowest price for the last year was $0.11, and the highest was $0.34.

The highest price for Litecoin was $375.29. It peaked on December 19, 2017. The lowest you could buy LTC for was on January 14, 2015. Then, a single LTC unit was just $1.11. During the past year, the highest price of a single LTC unit was $83.69, and the lowest was $25.57.

Supply Details

The maximum supply for XRP is 100 billion, and the total supply at the moment is 99,990,859,785 XRP. But the circulating supply just reached 45.31 billion XRP. That’s actually one of the main reasons why you can buy XRP for such a low price per unit.

The max LTC supply is 84 million, and the currency’s total and circulating supply are equal — 65.87 million LTC. As you may notice, the max number of LTC units that can ever be created is much lower than that of XRP, which is why LTC is more expensive.

Should You Trade XRP and LTC?

This is a rather difficult question. If you are new in the crypto sphere, you should take into account that profit is mainly made when you buy at low prices and sell at high prices. It’s no rocket science.

However, knowing when to buy and when to sell takes skill. You shouldn’t also exclude the element of luck entirely. What’s certain is that you need to learn, trade, and even risk a bit if you want to make a profit. This also applies to XRP and Litecoin. If the opportunity arises to make a profit from exchanging the two cryptos, you should do it.

Just make sure to use an exchange that doesn’t charge huge fees and helps you make the conversion quickly.
