Whilst there are several laser hair removal clinics in the area, the launch of Reading Cosmetic Laser is the first time that the Motus AY painless laser technology has been employed in the area.

Various lasers have been developed for the removal of unwanted hair, and the use of laser hair removal has become increasingly popular due to its effectiveness as a more permanent hair removal solution. However, in many cases these lasers can cause damage to the skin, and many of these procedures can be painful.

Skin damage for those with darker skin-types is particularly more noticeable, due to the interaction of the laser with melanin in the skin. The Motus AY employs an Alexandrite laser, which has a longer pulse wavelength that causes less damage to the skin.

In addition, the system uses a hand-piece technology known as Moveo, which focuses on how the laser itself is applied. Many laser removal systems lead to discomfort and pain owing to a small distance between the tip of the laser and the skin itself. The laser tip in the Moveo hand-piece actually makes slight contact with the skin, eliminating the pain caused by the laser pulses.
