The announcement comes after the company was purchased by Joseph Kreuser, the son of company-founder George Kreuser, and the company will be renamed CAM Tech Inc.
Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is the process by which material is removed from a conductive piece of material using electrical erosion. EDM is best explained as being the reverse of welding: in the welding process, material is added using an electrical current, whereas EDM removes material using an electrical current.
EDM can also be referred to as spark machining, spark eroding, wire erosion, wire burning, or die sinking.
CAM Tech, Inc. was established in 1996 by George Kreuser, who at the time had one EDM machine. The company has since grown to include 12 high speed Wire EDMs, 2 EDM micro hole drilling stations, and has 11,000 square feet of shop space to allow for expansion. They will celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2021.
The announced change of ownership has been planned for several years. Management of the company has been transitioning from father to son for more than 6 years, with George Kreuser having retired 3 years ago. The formal transfer of ownership occurred on 16 December 2020.
The change of ownership presented an ideal time to rebrand the company to CAM Tech, Inc., a title by which the company has been informally known for some time.
Apart from the formal change of ownership and name change, there are few other changes to the company. All staff, processes and pricing models will continue as before.
