The newly launched treatment aims to help patients identify the cognitive and behavioral factors that contribute to chronic pain, teach adaptive strategies to overcome these issues and empower patients to reclaim their lives.

Chronic pain, which can include persistent headaches, back and neck pain, arthritis, neurogenic pain, and psychogenic pain, is an unrelenting and debilitating condition that can limit one’s ability to engage in normal everyday activities.

Although chronic pain is typically thought of as a physical problem, many researchers have found evidence for the link between one’s thoughts and feelings about pain and their sensory perception of pain at the neural level.

Dr. Fishbach’s integrative cognitive-behavioral therapy offers an alternative to invasive or time-consuming chronic pain treatments such as medications, steroid injections, surgical procedures, and physical therapy.

In order to provide her patients with the most effective outcome, Dr. Fishbach incorporates additional therapeutic modalities, such as interpersonal therapy, mindfulness, and hypnosis, into chronic pain management. Using these varied approaches, she hopes to redefine patients’ relationship with pain and facilitate symptom relief by inducing a deep state of relaxation.

Dr. Fishbach is Psychologist with a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology. She was trained in hypnosis through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) and the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH). She also holds certification for hypnosis and chronic pain management from the American Hypnosis Association (AHA).

Individuals in the New York City area who are interested in Dr. Fishbach’s treatment of chronic pain can schedule a virtual appointment on the NY Health Hypnosis website.

A spokesperson for the practice said: “Dr. Fishbach helps clients confidently address the emotional and psychological issues interfering with their goals. She creates a warm and comfortable environment where clients can safely let their guard down and focus on their growth.”
