Sleep and circadian technology startup Rise Science has just updated its sleep and energy monitoring app called RISE, which helps people track and optimize their sleep patterns and daily energy cycles.

Sleep and circadian technology startup Rise Science announces the launch of its updated sleep monitoring app. iOS 14 users can now pin the RISE app as a widget, allowing them to see their energy schedule and “sleep debt” at a glance.

The app was updated to make it easier for people to monitor and modify their sleeping patterns and behavior throughout the day for optimal health, well-being, and productivity. With the new widget, users can follow their energy levels from morning to night, allowing them to better maximize their time and orient their evening winddown and bedtime around the optimal time for them to fall asleep.

Many experts have recently trained a spotlight on America’s lack of sleep, observing that it has become a public health epidemic. A recent Sleep Foundation poll found 70% of Americans report regularly getting less sleep than they need.

Rise Science says that a big part of this problem is the fact that most people do not understand how much sleep they need, overestimate the amount of sleep they’re getting, and acclimate to deprivation (sleep debt) over time (while objective measures of performance and well-being degrade). As such, the company developed RISE as a tech-based yet easy-to-understand solution that anyone with a smartphone can use to understand how sleep-deprived they are and pay back their sleep debt

Unlike other sleep-related apps on the market, RISE focuses on the two principles sleep researchers agree most affect how people feel and perform: sleep debt and circadian rhythms (or energy schedules). The only sleep “score” that matters is sleep debt. RISE tracks how much sleep one’s body owes and helps them pay it back. Additionally, RISE not only predicts a person’s daily energy schedule, but it also helps them take control of it.

Rise Science was founded by Leon Sasson and Jeff Kahn, who drew from their sleep science and behavioral science backgrounds to create the RISE app. Their research-based approach to app development has yielded positive results, with about 80% of RISE users experiencing the benefits of better sleep and daily energy within five days of using the app.

Because RISE is an app-only solution, users do not have to purchase expensive fitness tracking devices to reap its benefits. Rather, it relies on gyroscopes and motion sensors to track a person’s sleep and light exposure throughout the day.

Rise Science is a promising tech startup that seeks to revolutionize the sleep and wellness markets. Its updated app is available on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.
