Bowen College, available at BowenCollege.com, announced an update of its holistic pain management programs to provide more comprehensive therapeutic training.

Bowen College, a holistic healing specialist school based in Fairview, Vancouver, has announced an expansion of its curriculum. The school trains students in the art and science of Bowen Therapy, a pain management modality centred on mind-body integration.

The updated programs aim to be more accessible to health practitioners at all stages of their careers, with the inclusion of both Foundation and Transition courses.

A 2020 poll found that 50-80% of surveyed patients experienced a significant improvement in their symptoms after an average of three Bowen Therapy treatments. Developed by Australian clinician Tom Bowen, these treatments encourage healing through non-invasive methodologies which have been taught in over 30 countries since 1992.

Bowen College is the only Bowen Therapy school accredited by the Canadian Examining Board of Health Care Practitioners (CEBHCP). It has become known for its trademarked BowenFirst™ Technique, a body manipulation therapy innovated by Dr Manon Bolliger. The BowenFirst™ Technique is designed to manage pain by using pressure to stimulate the fascia, which activates the body’s brain and nervous system.

The Bowen College curriculum includes eCourses and workshops as part of their training programs. New students are encouraged to experience the treatment themselves alongside studying body-mind integration therapies.

The school also offers business development programs for practicing health professionals which emphasize self-care and community engagement. In addition, this training introduces participants to the ethical considerations and practical applications of Bowen Therapy.

With the latest announcement, Bowen College continues to diversify Canada’s pain management landscape.

A spokesperson for the school said, “Bowen College fosters a culture of curiosity and transformation. It was founded with the intention of teaching a modality which makes patients feel embodied and empowered. We see Bowen Therapy as a tool to both witness and participate in healing.”
