A new guide on interviewing and hiring buyer agents has been released by the Colorado Exclusive Buyers Agent Association to empower homebuyers in choosing the right agent for their home purchase

Colorado Exclusive Buyers Agent Association (CEBAA), a not-for-profit trade association headquartered in Evergreen, Colorado, released a new guide for prospective home buyers on how to interview and hire a buyer agent.

The latest guide release aims to inform home buyers about the steps and questions to ask when searching and choosing the right agent to work with to find the right property.

In 2020, 88% of buyers purchased their homes through an agent or broker. Taking the time to qualify the right agent that will assist a home buyer in what is likely to be the largest investment in their lifetime is key to ensuring a buyer’s home-purchase success.

The guide explains that the first step in the home buying process is to search for an Exclusive Buyer Agent (EBA) within the area of interest. An EBA only works and represents buyers and never takes listings.

Subsequently, the guide explains that interviewing a number of EBA’s with the questions detailed in the guide is essential to narrowing down one that is a good fit for the buyer.

Ideally, the agent would have the right attitude, expertise, and the buyer’s best interest at heart to make for a successful home purchase.

Kathleen Chiras, Manager of CEBAA said: “It is okay to interview more than one person. You do not always need to go with the first person you talk to. Remember, agents typically have good people skills. So picking the first one you speak with is an easy trap to fall into.”

With the latest guide release, CEBAA continues its commitment to protecting the interests of home buyers by helping them to understand the complexities that come with home buying transactions, and ensuring that home buyers get the home that they want.

CEBAA agents work exclusively for home buyers. This means clients can fully trust the agent to negotiate the best price on their behalf as their mission is to help the buyer and not the home seller.
