(Newswire.net — April 12, 2021) Orlando, FL — Consumption of energy drinks has been increasing today, and they are popular among the younger population. While these drinks have temporary benefits, it is worth mentioning that their consumption is linked with undesirable health consequences.

A study was published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, which is the Open Access Journal of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

This research involved 34 healthy volunteers belonging to the age bracket of 18 and 40 years. It is worth mentioning that the subjects were randomly assigned to consume 32 ounces of one or two commercially available caffeinated energy drinks or a placebo drink on three separate days.

In this study, both energy beverages had 304 to 320 milligrams of caffeine per 32 fluid ounces. There are also other ingredients found in the energy drinks like taurine, glucoronolactone, and B vitamins.

The placebo group, on the other hand, consumed drinks containing lime juice, carbonated water, and cherry flavoring.

It has been found that the subjects who consumed either type of energy drinks had QT interval at 6 milliseconds or 7.7 milliseconds higher at 4 hours compared to placebo drinkers.

It is important to note that QT interval pertains to a measurement of the time it takes ventricles in the heart (the lower chambers) to prepare to generate a beat again. If such a time interval is either too long or too short, it can produce irregularly heart beats and a life-threatening condition called arrhythmia.

The scientists recommend further research as such association in between energy drinks and QT intervals as well as blood pressure isn’t attributed to caffeine.

Today, experts continue to carry out studies to explore the potentially helpful remedies for the heart. Beneficial bacteria like probiotics have been found to exert varying mechanisms in producing heart health benefits.

One is their ability to reduce cholesterol levels. In many large research studies, probiotics have been able to reduce blood cholesterol, especially in individuals with high cholesterol levels.

The use of probiotics significantly decreased both total cholesterol and “bad” LDL cholesterol levels.

It is even more beneficial for heart health due to its ability to fight hypertension, which is a risk factor for heart disease.

In a study, it has been found the use of probiotics for 6 weeks significantly decreased blood pressure. Some studies also show these beneficial bacteria reduce triglycerides.

Today, more and more people are using formulas like Divine Bounty Digestive Enzymes to benefit from probiotics.
