(Newswire.net — May 18, 2021) Orlando, FL — Osteoarthritis is undeniably common nowadays, and in the United States alone, it affects around 30 million adults.

Multiple research studies have looked into the various aspects of this condition and the measures that could be helpful in inhibiting or reducing its complications. Exercise is one of the highly recommended steps to manage the condition.

Scientists carried out a study, which was published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.

In this research, the investigators discovered that roughly one hour of moderate to vigorous exercise weekly may produce significant help stave off disability among individuals with osteoarthritis.

It is worth mentioning that according to federal guidelines, sufferers of OA are advised to spend 150 minutes a week on moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity. However, it is also worth noting that the level of activity can be difficult in those suffering from pain in their lower extremity joints.

According to lead author Dorothy D. Dunlop, PhD, their goal was to see what kind of activity would help people remain free of disability.

Dunlop is professor of preventive medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

The study findings further reveal that weekly hour of activity decreased the odds of mobility disability, such as walking too slowly crossing the street, by 85 percent. Further, it also lessened the risk of daily living disability by almost 45 percent.

It is worth mentioning daily living disability includes difficulty bathing and dressing.

The study findings also show that 24 percent of adults who did not do 1 hour of brisk physical activity were unable to safely cross the stress. There was also 23 percent who reported troubles doing their morning routine.

Osteoarthritis can be a challenging condition to manage, and this is why experts strongly recommend some proven measures to help OA sufferers improve their health and performance.

There are remedies like the use of glucosamine scientifically found helpful in fighting OA. This natural remedy is widely researched on by the scientific community and is also consumed by individuals with the arthritic condition.

In various studies, glucosamine has been found to help in repairing damaged joint cartilage. This means that it could be significantly helpful for individuals with OA. What makes it even more beneficial is that it also enhances overall joint health.
