( — May 27, 2021) Orlando, FL — Various studies have been warning against the impacts of heavy metal exposure. According to experts, it could potentially increase the odds of certain diseases and may even be particularly detrimental to pregnancy.

A study was carried out and published in the Environmental International journal.

In this Rutgers study, the investigators found a link between exposure to metals and a disruption in a woman’s hormones during pregnancy. These metals include cobalt, arsenic, and nickel.

It is worth noting that metal exposure has long been linked with some issues at birth, such as low birth weight in babies, preterm birth, and preeclampsia in women. This new study shows that certain metals may cause a disruption in the endocrine system.

According to experts, the endocrine system is responsible for the regulation of bodily hormones. Such disruptions may contribute to the later health and disease risk of children.

“A delicate hormonal balance orchestrates pregnancy from conception to delivery and perturbations of this balance may negatively impact both mother and fetus,” said lead author Zorimar Rivera-Núnez.

Rivera-Núnez is an assistant professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Rutgers School of Public Health.

The investigators looked into blood and urine samples from 815 women enrolled in the Puerto Rico Test site for Exploring Contamination Threats (PROTECT) study.

This PROTECT study was initiated in 2021 and is an ongoing prospective birth cohort that studies environmental exposures in pregnant women and their children. The subjects are from around the northern karst zone, which include urban and mountainous rural areas of Puerto Rico.

The researchers have particularly found that metals have the ability to act as endocrine disruptors, and this is due to their ability to alter prenatal hormone concentrations during pregnancy. This disruption may also depend on when in the pregnancy the mother was exposed.

More studies are still being carried out to explore the impacts of toxins and heavy metals inside the body. It is worth noting that it could produce life-saving benefits to reduce exposure to these toxins.

It may also be helpful to detoxify the body, and this may be made through the use of certain all-natural remedies like activated charcoal. This therapeutic ingredient has a highly porous surface that works as a magnet to toxins and eliminates them from the body.

Today, there are many who use formulas like Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal, which is known for its high potency and purity. This supplement is loaded with the therapeutic goodness of activated charcoal, and is widely resorted to nowadays (
