(Newswire.net — June 17, 2021) Orlando, FL — More and more researchers are investigating some of the healthiest foods on the planet found to be beneficial for the heart.

According to experts, it is essential to not only learn about the foods to increase intake of but also the ones to avoid. In multiple research studies, it has been found that consumption of some foods and drinks may increase heart disease risk.

Adam Splaver, MD, clinical cardiologist and co-founder of Nano Health Associates, warns that drinking soda has serious consequences.

It is important to understand that sodas can prevent the heart from pumping properly and they also contain sugar, which triggers inflammation that could increase heart disease risk. Some experts further warn against the intake of some pies, which contain high amounts of saturated fat.

According to the American Heart Association, some pies, like apple pies, contain saturated fat amounts that are about half of the daily recommendation in just one slice. Such a dessert may potentially wreak havoc on heart health.

Ice cream is another identified culprit, and it has been found to cause a spike in insulin and triglyceride levels. It is similarly important to remember that it can increase systolic blood pressure and heart rate, and cause blood platelets to become sticky and clumpy.

It is worth realizing this can produce blockages in the small vessels of the heart and lessen blood flow to the heart.

Experts have long been stressing the importance of nourishing the body with nutrients like zinc to take better care of the heart.

According to an Australian research team, this therapeutic mineral called zinc appears to offer protection against coronary artery disease and cardiomyopathy as well as guard against damage to the myocardium (heart muscle).

It is worth mentioning that this mineral has been found to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant characteristics, which could aid in decreasing some risk factors linked with atherosclerosis.

Scientists carried out a study involving 40 healthy older adults supplemented with 45 mg of zinc gluconate daily for six months.

At the end of the study, it has been found that the treatment had a positive impact on factors linked with atherosclerosis when compared with participants who received a placebo.

Another mechanism that zinc works for heart health is its ability to neutralize free radicals, which could otherwise accelerate aging. It is further worth mentioning that free radicals may also contribute to the onset of chronic ailments, such as heart disease.

This amazingly therapeutic mineral may even aid in the regulation of the body’s heartbeat.
