(Newswire.net — June 18, 2021) Orlando, FL — In the United States, birth defects affect 1 in every 33 babies. It is not just common, but also costly and critical.

Still in the country, every 4 and a half minutes a baby is actually born with a birth defect. This actually means that almost 120,000 babies are affected by birth defects each year.

According to experts, these structural changes called birth defects that happen at birth can actually affect nearly any part, or parts of the body, such as the brain, foot, and heart.

It is worth keeping in mind that birth defects can happen during any stage of pregnancy, and a majority of them happen in the first 3 months of pregnancy. This is when the organs of the baby are forming.

There are also certain instances when the odds of birth defects increase. These are alcohol intake, street drug use, smoking, intake of certain medications, and having some medical conditions.

Some nutrients are found to be particularly beneficial in battling birth defects. These include  B vitamins, which are being widely studied nowadays due to their relevance in disease protection.

It is important to note that these are nutrients that can be found in a wide variety of foods, such as fresh fruits, milk, cheese, butter, dates, cereals, mushrooms, vegetables, wheat, meat, fish, and eggs. Research has shown adequate intake of B vitamins is essential in warding off a range of diseases and disorders.

Vitamin B12 is undeniably essential in preventing major birth defects, and this is due to the fact that adequate levels of this nutrient are vital to a healthy pregnancy. In some studies, it has been found that the brain and nervous system of a fetus need sufficient B12 levels from the mother to develop properly.

When at the beginning stages of pregnancy there is a vitamin B12 deficiency, it increases the odds of birth defects like neural tube defects. A maternal vitamin B12 deficiency is even a contributor to premature birth or miscarriage.

In a study, it has been found that women with vitamin B12 levels lower than 250 mg/dL were thrice more likely to give birth to a child with birth defects than to those with adequate levels. Experts say that women, with a vitamin B12 deficiency of below 150 mg/dL, have that risk higher by five times.

Individuals, who want to take advantage of the healing goodness of these nutrients, may benefit from the use of Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex.

It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6.
