(Newswire.net — June 28, 2021) Orlando, FL — Stroke is undeniably highly prevalent today. There are risk factors for this condition, and one is depression.

A study has shown that depressed women tend to be at a heightened risk of stroke. More particularly, women with a history of depression have a 29 percent increased risk of stroke.

According to study author An Pan, we know that stroke can increase the risk of depression, but depression itself may increase the risk of future stroke.

Pan is a research scientist at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston.

It is further worth noting that depression is also linked with hormonal changes in the body. It even affects chemicals in the brain and is associated with conditions like diabetes, obesity, and hypertension.

The study was published online on Aug. 11 in the journal Stroke.

The investigators also revealed that depressed women were more likely to smoke, be single, and be less physically active compared to their non-depressed counterparts.

In this research, the investigating team tracked 80,574 women who took part in the Nurses’ Health Study from 2000 to 2006 and had no prior history of stroke.

The findings suggest that 538 women suffered from ischemic stroke and 124 of them had a hemorrhagic stroke.

Today, more and more experts are looking into the best possible ways to reduce stroke damage. It is worth realizing that today, many researchers say that some natural remedies like berberine may be potentially helpful.

This alkaloid has long been used as traditional medicine, and there is increasing evidence that it exhibits neuroprotective effects against ischemic brain damage.

It is further worth mentioning that in a study, the investigators found berberine was able to enhance the neurological outcome and even lessen ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced cerebral infarction 48 h after MCAO.

What makes it all more beneficial is that it offers protection to PC12 cells from oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD)-induced injury. To top it off, it even inhibits reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation.

It is important to realize that the use of berberine has also been associated with various health benefits. This is why its use is highly recommended in warding off a range of diseases and disorders.

Individuals who want to increase the protection of their brain against stroke may take into account using this natural remedy. It can be obtained through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Berberine, which is widely reputed to be superior to other brands.

This formula is also pure and free from nasties, such as binders, fillers, GMOs, additives, and preservatives (http://www.amazon.com/Berberine-Supplement-600mg-Per-Capsule/dp/B06XPCSTYM).
