MSP Trusted Advisor Group, a Managed Service Providers consulting company, announces that Forrest Derr of Altaworx LLC, has joined their professional team. As president of Altaworx LLC, Forrest Derr leads an organization that is focused on how Managed Service Providers (MSPs) can build equity value in their business by using technology like recurring White Label VoIP services for their clients.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

I attended University of Mobile where I complete a degree in Business Management. While finishing my senior year at UM, I started working in the warehouse at an office furniture and supply company named OEC in Mobile, AL. I quickly rose to Information Technology Manager where I was engaged in purchasing and managing all telecommunications and IT infrastructure. I moved through the ranks and when I left OEC after almost 18 years, I had been serving as VP of Operations for 8 years. I missed technology and was very separated from it for my last several years at OEC, so I decided to take on a new role at a company called Altaworx where I could grow my technology skills and networking. Now as president, I have the privilege to lead a great organization that is focused not on technology, but on using technology to help MSP’s build equity value in their business with recurring White Label VoIP services for their clients.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

I have had to overcome a small network of connections at a small company to branch out and build my professional network to contacts all over the country.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

We help MSPs build equity value in their business with recurring White Label VoIP revenue. The reason we are unique over our competition is that we provide the ability to build equity value with a low cost of entry and an extensive product portfolio that includes connectivity.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Would you rather “pay rent” and build equity value for your “landlord”, or would you rather own your “home” and build your equity value? Now replace a few words that are in quotes. Would you rather “receive commissions” and build equity value for your “carrier”, or would you rather own your “customers” and build your equity value? Same concept, different outcome. I can show you how to stop building equity value for others.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Building a business and not a job.
