New Study Warns Against Increase in Pregnancy Hypertension by Air Pollution

(Newswire.net — September 15, 2021) Orlando, FL — Pregnancy is a delicate process, and many pregnant women are even susceptible to certain conditions like hypertension. There are various factors that influence the risk of these conditions.

The National Toxicology Program (NTP) recently reported that traffic-related air pollution has the ability to increase the risk of hypertension in women.

In this study, the NTP researchers assessed published research on the association between traffic-related air pollution, or TRAP, and hypertensive disorders. Such link was broken down by pollutant measurements of TRAP, such as particulate matter (PM2.5).

It is worth mentioning PM is the term used for a mixture of solid particles and liquid droplets floating in the air. PM2.5, on the other hand, refers to fine inhalable particles, with general diameters of 2.5 micrometers or smaller.

Experts say that the average hair of humans is about 70 micrometers in diameter, and around 30 times 30 times larger than the largest fine particle.

“What we found when we reviewed the literature is that exposure to PM2.5 from traffic emissions was associated with the development of hypertensive disorders in pregnant women,” said Brandy Beverly, Ph.D.,

Beverly is a lead scientist and researcher at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, part of the National Institutes of Health.

“When these women are exposed to PM2.5 during their entire pregnancy, the likelihood of developing preeclampsia increases by about 50%,” Beverly added.

There are other components of TRAP assessed by the NTP, such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, black carbon, and elemental carbon.

Health authorities have long warned that hypertensive disorders of pregnancy actually complicate over 10 percent of pregnancies on a global scale. They are also the top cause of fetal and maternal illness and death.

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology warns that mothers with hypertension during pregnancy are more likely to have a pre-term delivery.

More studies are still being carried out to look into the contributing factors of high blood pressure. It has long been established that making the right food choices is vital for blood pressure management.

There are foods with nutrients like B vitamins that are potentially helpful against hypertension. Studies have demonstrated that these nutrients work wonders in delivering disease-fighting benefits, particularly in batting with the condition.

Today, formulas like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex are being widely resorted to by health-conscious and budget-wise consumers.

It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07414752B).
