Scientists Now Suggest More Exercise Intensity May Add Years to Life

A study was presented at the European Society of Cardiology meeting in Paris.

The investigators looked into cyclists in Denmark. They found that men with increased levels of cycling intensity survived by 5.3 years longer. Those with an average intensity lived 2.9 long than those with low intensity. 

Female cyclists with high intensity also lived 3.9 years longer and average intensity resulted in 2.2 years longer compared to women with low intensity.

It is strongly recommended to get at least 30 minutes or even more moderate physical activity daily. 

According to study author Peter Schnohr, the findings suggest that a greater part of daily physical activity in leisure time should be vigorous, based on the individual’s own perception of intensity.
