New Study Reveals Link Between Vitamin D and Low Virus Death Rate

(Newswire.net — November 5, 2021) Orlando, FL — The scientific community has been researching the various aspects of Covid-19. These include the factors influencing its death rate.

One study was carried out and published in the Aging Clinical and Experimental Research journal.

It was spearheaded by Dr. Lee Smith of Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) and Mr. Petre Cristian Ilie, lead urologist of Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust.

This research actually found a link between reduced average levels of vitamin D and increased Covid-19 cases as well as mortality rates across 20 European countries.

In previous observational studies, it has been found there’s a link between low levels of vitamin D and the increased odds of acute respiratory tract infections. It is important to realize that vitamin D works in modulating white blood cell response.

Thus, it prevents the white blood cells from releasing excessive numbers of inflammatory cytokines. It is important to note that the Covid-19 virus is known to cause an excess of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

There are high Covid-19 mortality rates in both Spain and Italy. In this new study, it has been found that these are countries with lower average vitamin D levels compared to a majority of northern European countries.

One of the reasons behind the low vitamin D levels in these areas of the world is that those living in them, particularly the elderly, avoid the strong sun. Skin pigmentation also lessens the synthesis of natural vitamin D.

“We found a significant crude relationship between average vitamin D levels and the number of COVID-19 cases, and particularly COVID-19 mortality rates, per head of population across the 20 European countries,” said Dr. Lee Smith, Reader in Physical Activity and Public Health at Anglia Ruskin University.

“Vitamin D has been shown to protect against acute respiratory infections, and older adults, the group most deficient in vitamin D, are also the ones most seriously affected by COVID-19,” he added.

Nutrients are undeniably vital for increased protection against the impacts of Covid-19. It is important to realize that aside from vitamin D, there are other nutrients found to be helpful.

These include B vitamins, which are found to have immunity-boosting effects.

Highly potent and pure supplements like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex are widely resorted to nowadays.
