(Newswire.net — November 10, 2021) Winnetka, IL — The scientific community is increasingly looking into the impacts of emotions on health. There are many types of emotions that play a significant role in human behavior and decisions, and these include love.

According to sexual wellness specialists at Loyola University Health System, getting struck by Cupid’s arrow may very well take your breath away and make your heart go pitter-patter.

Love is undeniably one of the most important emotions in human life. This particular emotion has actually long been studied by researchers due to its impacts on the body.

Pat Mumby, Ph.D., says that falling in love causes our body to release a flood of feel-good chemicals that trigger specific physical reactions.

Mumby is co-director of the Loyola Sexual Wellness Clinic and professor, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neurosciences, Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM).

“This internal elixir of love is responsible for making our cheeks flush, our palms sweat and our hearts race,” she adds.

The levels of certain substances, such as adrenaline, dopamine, and norepinephrine, usually increase when two people fall in love. It is worth noting that it is dopamine that produces feelings of euphoria while adrenaline and norepinephrine are responsible for the pitter-patter of the heart.

These two are also behind restlessness and overall preoccupation that go along with experiencing love.

According to the results of MRI scans, love has the ability to light up the pleasure center of the brain. When humans fall in love, blood flow increases in this area. It is worth noting that this part of the brain is also implicated in obsessive-compulsive behaviors.

Mary Lynn, DO, adds that love lowers serotonin levels, which is common in people with obsessive-compulsive disorders.

Lynn is co-director of the Loyola Sexual Wellness Clinic and assistant professor, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, SSOM.

“This may explain why we concentrate on little other than our partner during the early stages of a relationship,” she adds.

More studies are still being carried out to investigate the impacts of emotions on various aspects of health. It is always important to manage emotions and stay happy as this could produce health benefits.

Indeed the brain is one of the most important parts of the body. It is worth noting that taking care of it could produce a range of positive health outcomes.

To take better care of brain health, it may be beneficial to add a brain-boosting remedy called ashwagandha. It may be obtained through the use of formulas like NutraHerbals Ashwagandha (www.amazon.com/organic-ashwagandha-root-powder/dp/B01GZALWGO).
