A New Study Finding Sheds Light on the Effects of Salt on Weight Loss

(Newswire.net — November 12, 2021) Orlando, FL — In the United States, high blood pressure happens to over 150 million adults. Health authorities have long warned that this places the increased risk of chronic ailments like stroke and heart attack.

According to experts, salt intake may contribute to hypertension. This is due to its ability to stimulate thirst and trigger increased fluid intake. It has long been known that cutting the intake of salt could make a huge difference in the management of blood pressure.

Oddly, in recent studies, it has been found that higher consumption of salt did not in fact stimulate thirst and fluid intake. However, it promoted weight loss and this, according to experts, is due to its ability to alter the body’s total energy needs.

A study was recently carried out and spearheaded by Stephen Juraschek, MD, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC).

In this study, the researchers found that lessening consumption of salt in adults with elevated blood pressure or hypertension reduced thirst, urine volume (a marker of fluid intake), and blood pressure.

However, it is worth noting that it did not affect metabolic energy needs.

The study findings were published in the journal called Hypertension.

The researchers said that the results support the traditional notion that lessening the intake of sodium is critical to the management of hypertension.

The investigators looked into data from the completed Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH)-Sodium trial, which is a randomized controlled-feeding study, published in 2001.

They examined the impacts of three different levels of sodium intake (low, medium, and high) on blood pressure in subjects who followed two distinct diets — a typical American diet (control diet) or a healthy diet (the DASH Diet).

In this secondary analysis of the DASH-Sodium trial, the investigators measured the effect of sodium intake on the energy intake, weight, self-reported thirst, and 24-hour urine volume of the participants.

They found that lessened sodium intake did not impact the amount of energy needed to maintain a stable weight. However, it reduced the thirst of the participants.

More studies are still being carried out to shed light on the various aspects of weight loss. It is worth realizing that there are some remedies like L-Carnitine found to be helpful. This is due to the fact that it may help enhance energy levels and improve the body’s ability to burn fat.

To benefit from its use, it may be wise to take into account the use of Divine Bounty L-Carnitine (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XF7K9MM).
