Recent Research Now Warns Pesticides May Be Harmful to the Semen

(Newswire.net — November 25, 2021) Orlando, FL — Experts have long revealed that semen quality is vital for fertility. Unfortunately today, many men are exposed to various factors that reduce the quality of sperm.

A study has revealed that there are three chemicals found in farm pesticides that are associated with poor sperm quality.

According to researchers, this study involved rural Midwesterners, more particularly Missouri men. The subjects were exposed to high amounts of these chemicals, which have been found to produce deformed and sluggish sperm.

It is worth realizing that every semen problem can actually decrease the ability of the sperm to reach and fertilize an egg. This apparently makes conception difficult.

According to Shanna Swan, research leader, these chemicals are among the most commonly used throughout the Midwest.

Swan is an expert in reproduction and the environment at the University of Missouri.

The findings of this research were published in the June 18 issue of Environmental Health Perspectives.

It is worth mentioning that these chemicals are considered to be plant killers and insecticides. They are found to reach men via the water supply, more particularly drinking water. In the Midwest, it has been discovered that drinking water contains significantly high levels of these substances.

To avoid or reduce the risk of having under-performing sperm, it is strongly recommended to avoid exposure to these chemicals.

In enhancing sperm quality, it is worth noting that some natural remedies have been found helpful. One is the use of a nutrient called vitamin D, which has been scientifically found to boost sperm quality.

According to experts, vitamin D works wonders in making sperm swim better towards the egg. This promotes greater speed and allows sperm to be more penetrative.

In a study, researchers tested the levels of vitamin D and sperm motility among 300 Danish men. It has been found that vitamin D has been able to increase calcium levels in the sperm. This in turn has been found to increase the motility as well as the proportion of the sperm.

This research was published in the Human Reproduction peer-reviewed medical journal. It was carried out by researchers from The University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

More research studies are still being carried out to learn more about the therapeutic effects of vitamin D. However, it is worth noting that it has long been strongly recommended for various medicinal purposes.
