(Newswire.net — November 30, 2021) Orlando, FL — Scientists are increasingly investigating ways to reduce the odds of Covid-19 severity and death. Interestingly, some studies have shown that certain factors have a strong influence on lessening these risks.
One was carried out by the researchers from UCLA.
In this research, the investigators found that having higher body fat may offer protection from death due to heart disease.
More particularly, women and men with high muscle mass have a reduced likelihood of dying from heart disease.
It also found that women with increased levels of body fat have a greater degree of protection than their counterparts with less fat. This has remained true regardless of their muscle mass.
In this study, the investigators looked into national health survey data gathered over a 15-year period. They particularly found that in women with high muscle mass and high body fat, heart disease-related death was 42 percent lower than in a comparison group of women with low muscle mass and low body fat.
However, it is also worth noting that those with increased muscle mass and low body fat did not seem to have a significant advantage over the comparison group.
In men, having high muscle mass and high body fat reduced their risk by 26 percent. Further, the researchers also found that having high muscle mass and low body fat decreased their risk by 60 percent.
Further, the mortality among women over those five decades has dropped at a slower rate than for men. The investigators even reveal that the incidence of heart attacks seems to be increasing among women between the ages of 35 and 54.
Research has also demonstrated that women, compared to men, have significantly higher levels of risk factors linked with adverse heart disease.
The researchers analyzed the body composition from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999-2004 and cardiovascular disease data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999-2014.
They assessed 11,463 people who were 20 years and older. The subjects in this study were then divided into four body-composition groups. They are low muscle mass and low body fat, low muscle and high fat, high muscle, and low fat, and high muscle and high fat.
Scientists continue to carry out more studies to help people increase their protection against Covid-19. It is important to keep in mind that having boosted immunity is vital in achieving this.
It is recommended to get adequate sleep, exercise regularly, manage stress, maintains a healthy weight, and follow a healthy diet. Some kitchen ingredients like the use of lion’s mane, which is a medicinal mushroom.
The use of the lion’s mane has long been associated with a myriad of health benefits. It can be obtained widely today through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Lion’s Mane. (www.amazon.com/Organic-Lions-Mane-Mushroom-Capsules/dp/B07LGR1KN7).
