(Newswire.net — December 2, 2021) Orlando, FL — Fatty liver disease is undeniably prevalent today, and more and more researchers are even investigating the ways to fight it. Various research studies suggest that intake of certain foods could work wonders in enhancing liver health and protection.

One study was carried out and spearheaded by Texas A&M AgriLife Research scientists.

In this research, the investigators found that a natural compound can be useful in battling fatty liver disease. This therapeutic compound can be found in a number of well-known and widely consumed vegetables.

The findings of this research were published in Hepatology.

It shows how non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which is otherwise called NAFLD, is controllable by indole that is a natural compound in gut bacteria. It can be found in cruciferous vegetables like Brussels sprouts, kale, cabbage, and cauliflower.

The results also suggest that this natural compound may pave the way to new treatments or preventive measures for NAFLD.

Chaodong Wu, M.D., Ph.D., says that based on this research, we believe healthy foods with a high capacity for indole production are essential for preventing NAFLD and are beneficial for improving the health of those with it.

Wu is a Texas A&M AgriLife Research Faculty Fellow and principal investigator for the study.

“This is another example where altering the diet can help prevent or treat disease and improve the well-being of the individual,” Wu added.

It is worth noting that NAFLD develops when the liver becomes “marbled” with fat, sometimes because of unhealthy nutrition. These include excessive intake of saturated fats. If not addressed properly, this medical condition can result in life-threatening liver disease, including cirrhosis or liver cancer.

Experts have long warned that there are a number of diverse factors that are recognized to be contributors to NAFLD. It is seven to ten times more prevalent among obese individuals than the general population.

Further, obesity also triggers inflammation, which is driven by the macrophages. It is worth realizing that macrophages are types of white blood cells that normally battle infection.

More studies are still being carried out to explore the benefits of consuming vegetables for liver health. There are also remedies found in cruciferous vegetables like Diindolylmethane (DIM) that researchers are investigating nowadays.

This remedy is consumed widely today through the use of formulas like Purest Vantage DIM.

In various research studies, scientists have linked DIM with a myriad of health benefits. This remedy is used for preventive health purposes and is found to be helpful potentially in battling some chronic ailments (http://www.amazon.com/DIM-Diindolylmethane-250mg-Per-Capsule/dp/B072C46H29).
