(Newswire.net — December 23, 2021) Orlando, FL — Multiple research studies have long been stressing the therapeutic benefits of vitamin C, which is a nutrient found to ward off a range of diseases.

In a new study, it has been found that using it as an adjunct to medications for brain disorders may result in safer, more effective treatments for diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and epilepsy.

According to lead author Stefano Manfredini, improvements would be in the development of new pharmacologic approaches. Manfredini is a professor of pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Ferrara in Italy.

It is worth realizing that since vitamin C isn’t toxic, it is good for the brain. The study appears in the current Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.

Experts have long been stressing the importance of vitamin C for brain health. Studies even show it works wonders in reducing the risk of dementia.

In multiple meta-analyses and systematic reviews, it has been found that the use of vitamins C and E was associated with a 20 to 25 percent reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease. The investigators found that such nutrients may aid in fighting cognitive impairment. There are actually many brain health benefits associated with the use of these nutrients. Experts say that the brain is actually a power consumption of vitamin C.

It is worth noting that there are greater concentrations of this vitamin in the brain than in the rest of the body. The brain even maintains its levels even after the body is already depleted of this vitamin.

It has been found that as an antioxidant, vitamin C surrenders electrons for the purpose of neutralizing rogue oxygen molecules given off in the process. These are free radicals that destroy DNA and age the cells.

There have been quite a number of studies revealing the healing goodness of vitamins. It is important to note that this nutrient has long been reputed to be vital for cognitive performance.
