(Newswire.net — January 18, 2022) Orlando, FL — The pandemic has indeed changed the world and placed many nations on their knees. The scientific community scrambles to find a vaccine, and investigate the various aspects of this virus.
A study was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
In this research, it has been found there is a link between heart injury among hospitalized Covid-19 patients and the increased odds of death.
This study involves analysis of electronic health records involving almost 3,000 adult individuals with confirmed positive Covid-19. The subjects were admitted to five New York City hospitals within the Mount Sinai Health System between February 27 and April 12, 2020.
These were the Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai West, Mount Sinai Morningside, Mount Sinai Queens, and Mount Sinai Brooklyn.
This study was carried out by the Mount Sinai scientists who revealed that myocardial injury (heart damage) is common among individuals hospitalized with the Covid-19. They further revealed the risk of death is higher, specifically pointing out that a serious myocardial injury increases the odds of death by three times.
According to lead author Anu Lala, MD, there has been a lot of speculation about how COVID-19 affects the heart and blood vessels, and with what frequency.
Lala is Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
“Our observational study may help to shed some light on this. We found that 36 percent of patients who were hospitalized with COVID-19 had elevated troponin levels — which represents heart injury — and were at higher risk of death,” Lala adds.
Today, individuals with heart health issues are particularly warned against the virus. Experts also strongly recommend resorting to some measures that could be helpful in protecting and enhancing heart health.
Aside from the following healthy dietary and lifestyle practices, it is also recommended to take supplements scientifically found to benefit the heart.
According to research, a phytochemical called curcumin may be an excellent choice. Scientists say it plays a multi-targeted role in lessening cardiovascular risks linked with metabolic syndrome, obesity, and diabetes.
Scientists say curcumin is beneficial for the heart due to its ability to enhance endothelial function. This remedy also works wonders in battling the risk factors of heart disease. These include its ability to suppress chronic inflammation and normalize blood lipid levels.
Divine Bounty Curcumin is one of the formulas consumers may take into account using. It is known for its high potency and is even equipped with black pepper which increases curcumin absorption inside the body (www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
