(Newswire.net — February 18, 2022) Orlando, FL — Migraines are undeniably common today, and there are many people who live a reduced quality of life because of it. Scientists are increasingly studying this condition

In this research, the investigators found that diet plays a significant role in the episodes of headaches among those with migraines.

According to Vincent Martin, MD, eliminating that morning ‘Cup of Joe,’ consuming processed foods high in nitrites or monosodium glutamate (MSG), and enjoying too much alcohol are potential headache triggers for individuals battling migraines.

Vincent Martin is a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine.

One of the approaches in preventing headaches with diet is to avoid food and drinks that are identified to trigger headaches.

“The second approach would be to follow a comprehensive diet whose very composition may prevent headaches,” adds Martin.

Martin is co-director of the Headache and Facial Pain Center at UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute and an expert in the area of migraine.

This review was published in the scholarly publication Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain. It is co-authored by Brinder Vij, MD, associate professor in the UC Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine.

The investigators said that excessive intake of coffee increases the risk, and this is why it is best to consume no more than 400 milligrams daily, which is one cup is 125 milligrams.

“Large amounts of caffeine can bring on anxiety and depressive symptoms as well as headaches,” Martin explained.

Caffeine also has MSG, which is used in a variety of food and beverage items as a flavor enhancer. These include international foods, snack foods, salad dressing, frozen or canned foods, soups, seasoning salts, ketchup, barbecue sauce, and heavily in Chinese cooking.

It is also important to realize that there are also food and kitchen ingredients that are particularly found beneficial against migraines. These are foods containing certain nutrients like B vitamins.

Decades of research have demonstrated that intake of B vitamins produces a range of health benefits. These vitamins could work wonders in protecting the body from some of the world’s most chronic and common conditions.

B vitamins like riboflavin have been found to aid in reducing the severity and frequency of migraine attacks. Today, these nutrients are obtained widely through supplementation like the use of Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex.

It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6. (amazon.com/dp/B07414752B).
