(Newswire.net — March 28, 2022) Ste 177 Winnetka, IL, IL — Scientists have been looking into the effects of food on various aspects of health. Certain foods have been found particularly beneficial in lessening levels of stress.

A study was carried out by researchers from Edith Cowan University (ECU).

In this research, the investigators actually found a link between a diet loaded with fruits and vegetables and reduced stress levels.

The investigators looked into the association between fruit and vegetable consumption with stress levels. It involved over 8,600 Australians between ages 25 and 91 who participated in the Australian Diabetes, Obesity and Lifestyle (AusDiab) Study from Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute.

The results revealed that individuals who consumed a minimum of 470 grams of fruit and vegetables on a daily basis had reduced levels of stress compared to those who consumed less than 230 grams.

The World Health Organization (WHO) suggests people should eat at least 400 grams of fruit and vegetables per day.

The study was spearheaded by a researcher, Ph.D. candidate Simone Radavelli-Bagatini from ECU’s Institute for Nutrition Research.

“The study strengthens the link between diets rich in fruit and vegetables and mental wellbeing,” said Ms. Radavelli-Bagatini.

“We found that people who have higher fruit and veggie intakes are less stressed than those with lower intakes, which suggests diet plays a key role in mental wellbeing,” she added.

On a global scale, roughly 1 in 10 people are living with a mental health issue.

Experts have long said that there are certain levels of stress that are considered normal. However, when it gets chronic, it could result in serious mental health problems.

“Long-term and unmanaged stress can lead to a range of health problems including heart disease, diabetes, depression, and anxiety so we need to find ways to prevent and possibly alleviate mental health problems in the future,” explained Ms. Radavelli-Bagatini.

Previous research studies have demonstrated a link between stress and consumption of fruits and vegetables in younger adults. This study is the first that reveals the same results on adults of all ages.

The findings of this research were published in Clinical Nutrition.

There are more and more studies that look into the effects of kitchen ingredients against stress. It’s interesting to note that some medicinal herbs like ashwagandha may be helpful. This therapeutic remedy has been found to work in reducing the levels of the stress hormone called cortisol.

Today, this remedy is obtained through the use of formulas like NutraHerbals Ashwagandha. This highly potent and pure formula is made carefully in an FDA-inspected facility in the U.S (http://www.amazon.com/organic-ashwagandha-root-powder/dp/B01GZALWGO).
