Research Reveals Link Between Late Dinner and Weight Gain

(Newswire.net — April 15, 2022) Orlando, FL — Estimates show that more than 2.1 billion adults are considered to be overweight or obese. Health authorities have long been warning against obesity as it increases the odds of certain health issues.

A study was carried out and published in the Endocrine Society’s Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.

In this research, it has been found that a late dinner may contribute to weight gain as well as high blood sugar.

“This study sheds new light on how eating a late dinner worsens glucose tolerance and reduces the amount of fat burned. The effect of late eating varies greatly between people and depends on their usual bedtime,” said the study’s corresponding author Jonathan C. Jun, M.D.,

Jun is from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, M.d.

“This shows that some people might be more vulnerable to late eating than others. If the metabolic effects we observed with a single meal keep occurring chronically, then late eating could lead to consequences such as diabetes or obesity.”

In this study, the investigators had 20 healthy volunteers, particularly 10 men and 10 women. They tried to see how the subjects metabolized dinner consumed at 10 p.m. compared to 6 p.m. They also all went to sleep at 11 p.m.

The investigators found they had higher blood sugar levels. What makes the study even more interesting was that it found there was a lower amount of ingested fat burned in those who ate dinner late.

“On average, the peak glucose level after late dinner was about 18 percent higher, and the amount of fat burned overnight decreased by about 10 percent compared to eating an earlier dinner,” said the study’s first author Chenjuan Gu, M.D., Ph.D., of the Johns Hopkins University.

“The effects we have seen in healthy volunteers might be more pronounced in people with obesity or diabetes, who already have a compromised metabolism,” Gu added.

An increasing number of studies are looking into various contributing factors to weight gain. It is also worth noting that scientists are also increasingly studying some ways to help the body manage a healthy weight.

The use of amino acids like L-Carnitine is found to be particularly beneficial. It helps enhance energy levels and may even promote fat burning. It could be an excellent addition to one’s weight management diet.

Formulas like Divine Bounty L-Carnitine are widely resorted to nowadays. It is known for its high potency and is made to be pure and free from nasty ingredients and contaminants. What makes it all the more beneficial is that it comes with a money-back guarantee (amazon.com/dp/B06XF7K9MM).
